I don't have Staffs but I have a very soft spot for them. When I was considering working with dogs the one person who encouraged me was a neighbour called Gwen Gallimore, a well known breeder of Staffs throughout the sixties & seventies. Gwen bred Champion Wystaff Warfare, the first Staff ever to win Best In Show at a championship show. Gwen and her husband emigrated to the USA and continued breeding, showing & judging, she died in the USA and when her husband Victor died he left in his will around £40,000 to set up a trust fund to help with rescuing Staffords.
The Gallimores Staffs had wonderful temperament cheeky, funny and very soft, my cousin and I were encouraged to go and play with them and Gwen used to clip our Scotty too. When people talk about nasty Staffs I am horrified, these are not the same breed as the little round bundles of fun I use to play with.
