Hi, this could be walking dandruff (can,t remember the veterinary name) but its a very tiny skin mite that causes itching and a rash as you described. We had it with ours couple of years ago when i was looking after a freinds dog for her when she was on holiday. Its easily treated with Frontline. If you can see what looks like dandruff on your dogs skin this could be what it is. I remember getting the same type of rash on my arms at the time

Pete, I'm allergic to dog saliva and it appears much like you describe. I've had to teach Olive not to lick me - also if she's been licking her leg and I touch it I get a rash - it's just a matter of being careful and doing a "drool-check" before each cudddle .

Have to take antihistamine all the time as I am allergic to my dogs, doctor thinks I am mad but I can't imagine living without them so I put up with the symptoms, in my case hay fever type and it is much worse at night.

I haven't used it but there is a lotion/wipes product now, I think it's called Petal Cleanse. Get in in Boots/Tesco etc, wipe over your dog/cat and it takes off the 'dander' (is that spit and dandruff? I think so) and makes them much less allergenic to you.

Might be worth a try, rather than being on permanent antihistamine?

good luck
