The other two coped fine, it was just the one in the picture with the 3 piggies that should have had four Just keep an eye on her after the birth because mine were fine for a day or two and then all of a sudden they got something and became very ill and died within a day. I can't remember now what somebody said it would have been but it happens very suddenly and they die quite quickly. The second one got it just after the first one died and they weren't kept together, and we took her to the vets and he gave her an injection but she still died. I think they start breathing heavily as far as I can remember.

Awwww what beautiful piggies you have :smt049 :smt049 :smt049 :smt049 Parsnip reminds me of my first piggy when I was about 15 and I thought the world of him and I used to go to sleep cuddling him on the settee and then he got ill with a cold and I took him to the vets and they gave him an injection and I brought him home again and put him in his cage and then later my mum rang my boyfriend whose house I was at (I was about 17 by this time) and told him that Piggy Piggy had died. It broke my heart

Yes Guinea pig babies are amazing - they are up and eating within minutes because they are born with teeth so they can have hard food as well as milk. They are also fully furred and eyes open, just miniatures of their mummys - really cute.

Don't forget the piccys when they are born
