it sounds confusing.

So what is Indie getting for each meal?

I find it all interesting but not confident enough to try it.

Hi Jenny I feed my 3 Stafford totally raw, they are all doing fantastically on it.
I'm no expert, but I think I know enough to be confident to feed it.
It took me a while before I went completely barf, I got loads of advice and experience from other barf feeders, I think my dogs get a very good variety so I don't find the need for supplements.
Some people feed supplements, some don't.
I would suggest you read as much info as you can, and talk to as many barf feeders as you can, and then make your own desisions.
I've been feeding my 3 barf for about 8 months.

Mitch.

right, ok... so depending on how much she will eat, i will start her on about 3 or 4 chicken wings per meal, once in morning and once in evening. Then every other day i will liquidise or blend down some veg and feed that in place of a meat meal. Since u cant feed meat with veg cos veg takes longer to digest. And u have the blend or liquidise the veg so they get the goodness... simulating if dogs were in the wild and were to eat the stuff out of the stomachs of a herbivore.

These amounts vary depending on size of dog. and u have to guess really, so if ur dog starts putting on too much weight, just reduce the amount u give her. Or reduce the meat and up the veg meal. Same with if she loses weight, up the meat and reduce the veg.

Apparently its not necessary to give supplements and the diet is much better for them. and a hell of alot cheaper!

Another thing GL suggested was chicken necks, which my butcher didnt sell, but that would be somethin like 6 per meal for indie.

My butcher is going to order me in 8 chicken carcasses for monday for only 50p! and i would feed that as one meal! They r quite small, not huge things.

It was suggested to start with chicken as its easy on their tummies, then i can move onto changin it around in a few weeks.

Heres a handy site i found for FAQ. really helped!

will do im pretty confident about it now ive actually got some food for her.lol. and the marrow bone was only £1 and split into 3 bits, so that will last her ages! compared to any of the hide bones i used to give her

and GL was also sayin that if u boil the chicken carcasses u can put the broth into ur kongs and freeze em

and it was easy enough to persuade OH to buy the stuff for her too cos its so cheap!

dont know wot to do with the burns food ive got now tho.. indie wont touch it! ive got a 2kg bag still

I would hang onto the Burns for a while incase Indie does not like raw feeding.

Can you feed the chicken carcasses after boiling them?

Thats true, don't feed the whole carcases after cooking. But you can take the meat off and feed that.
