Does your dog think it is a lie?
We have to teach our dogs what our words mean, to us the words matter but if we taught our dogs to sit on the command of cuddle, to them cuddle will mean sit. I also say to my dogs "wontbelong-wontbelong" not knowing how long I will be away, to my dogs that means I am going out without them so I am not lying to my dog but telling them the truth.
If my dog was outside and wouldn't come in, I needed him in so I could go out, I picked up his lead as if going to take him for a walk then didn't take him but went out instead, that would be a lie to my dog. If I clipped the lead on him and took him round the block before going out I haven't lied to him. Does this make sense?
