Post update, Its been about 9 months now and my dg is no longer eating pedigree, he has calmed down so much and is more manageable and more alert when it comes to training, its absolutly amazing what changing his food has done! Im one happy Momma!

There's loads of great ones, avoid things like derivatives, wheats (any type of grain) and have at least 15% (my minimum) for meat with meat being the highest content (check percentages as some will put meat first to trick us)
As your in the US i can't offer any brands but obviously some users have already offered some which i've heard of.
Apparently Orijen is the best but my dog didn't like it for long and the protein worried me a little (there is a bit on their website stating why high protein is good which reassured me enough to try it)
