Well done you for rescuing him
and sounds like you are doing some good work and getting some good advice now

I would also add that you have had him a v short time as well, his world is upside down really - I wouldnt rush into letting him off the lead, spend time building your bond with him

have fun with him, he sounds like a friendly soul who has now landed on his feet

Training classes might be a good idea for him, too. That way you can practice recall, etc., in a controlled environment and solidify his general training and obedience in the face of distractions. It should also help you bond with him more and give you confidence about handling him.

Thank you from all of us for rescuing him
Ican tell you want to whats best for him so well done for asking advice-thats what this forum is all about.

I agree with a previous post-2 weeks is a very short time for him to adjust to a new home and family.

So I wouldnt worry about letting him off the lead .

Just enjoy him, give him lots of love and praise and take time to really get to know him.
Please keep us updated and post a picture if you get time
hugs to Samson
from Maureen

Just wondered -do you know whether the old lady was his only owner?
