Thanks very much for the replies so far.
Seems like the Motivation Movie hasn't greatly impressed anyone yet!
The index for Culture Clash will be very useful - thanks very much Wysiwyg, I'll print it off and stick it in the back of the book.
I'll check the suggestions on amazon and ebay to see what they've got!
I'm also tempted with a new book called "Stop!" How to control predatory chasing in dogs" by David Ryan. £9.99. It's on dog-secrets website and looks quite good. (Various articles on there which make sense)
It would be quite nice to have a permanent "Book Recommendation list" on dogsey, with reviews from people who have read them!

There are a lot of good `specialist` books as well, if and when you need them like managing certain behaviour, or different sports. It`s really useful to have reader reviews as it saves a lot of money!

I think a book review is a really good idea

What about a book lending/swapping?? I know I have a few books around here I would be happy to lend out and some I would love to have a look at before I splash out all the cash

Before you print it, I suggest you check your edition matches that index. I have a feeling that is for the first edition.

I have the MM by the way and it is short - however, personally I found a few training gems in there when I watched it some years ago.

All his info is spot on IMO.

Ah, that may be the case, however I'd have thought they'd have updated it. Hope so anyway.

As far as I can see, the index seems to have been updated - it's working for me anyway

I agree with those who say
'The Culture Clash' by Jean Donaldson,
'On Talking terms with Dogs' by Turid Rugaas

For new owners:
Doctor Dunbar's 'Good Little Dog Book' (some of the language is a bit twee) by Ian Dunbar,'
Puppy Survival Kit' by Lyn Fleet and Helen Roberts
'The Book of The Bitch ' by Evans and White for bitch owners.
'Clicker Training For Dogs' by Karen Pryor.

I have a number of dog books including ones by the Volhards, Dunbar, Fisher , Bailey and and although good in parts some are now a bit outdated in their thinking and probably out of print. I also have 'Dogs are from Neptune' by Donalson which IMO isn't as good as The Culture Clash.

I would like to have a copy of 'The Hundred Silliest Things People say about Dogs' by Alexandra Semyonova which looks like an interesting read.... http://www.hastingspress.co.uk/100silliest.html

I recommend 'The Dog Listener' by Jan Fennell...there's just so much you can do with it.

I've lined a rabbit hutch with chapter one, started a bonfire with chapter two, wedged a door open with chapter three, had a fun night doing origami with chapter four, chapter five was handy when we ran out of tissues, wrapped a parcel with chapter six...the list goes on and on
