I remember having boils as a child, my mum used to bathe them in hot water, hotter the better and they would burst and all the scum would come out and then they would feel much better.

Never had them before in my life until a year ago and have had two since. They're the most horrible things and I can completely sympathise. The magnesium sulphate paste works really well and you can get it over the counter at the chemist. Make sure you go to the docs Monday though cause the antibiotics work quickly and seem to leave less of a scar. Hope you feel better soon! xx

ouch, hope it feels better soon, this is out of my natural family doctor book,

finely chopped or grated cabbage in a piece of gauze to make a poultice, place over boil, secure with a bandage or plaster, change daily until boil heals,
or crumble a slice of bread into a little freshly boiled milk, wrap in gauze, drain and apply while hot

Sounds very painful Jackie - is it still there this morning, or did you manage to get it to pop - it's always a relief when they "go"

Horrible things, I used to get them when I was younger (so not that long ago)

The worst was in my ear, it was so painful. There used to be an old wife's tale about eating rich food.

Hope it gets better soon x
