You know, you could do a lot worse than sign a petition to try end some animal cruelty on this earth.

Seriously, going on about racism and different cultures??

This petition is not about stopping people in china from eating dog meat in general, it's about ending a cruel slaugher fesival where thousands of dogs suffer!!

If you think that's not worth putting your signature down for because it happens in your country as well and you don't want to be 'racist'.. then, well, I'm really lost for words.

I agree though, all cruelty is abhorrent.

I'm quite suprised to see a reply like this on a website for dog and animal lovers(?) I'll try to explain though the best I can.

One of the main differences that set this cruel slaughter apart from farming ect, is that many of these dogs are actually people's pets who have been stolen to be killed for meat. Many people in China are actually dog lovers, who also consider dogs to be companions (not food) and are heartbroken to find that their pet and loved family member has been loaded into a truck to be kidnapped and slaughtered for meat.

These dogs are crammed into tiny cages so small they can not move their bodies, thrown around like objects and experience conditions that are inconceivable.

Along with this, dogs are naturally a predator species (not a prey species) therefore are extremely dangerous for humans to eat, and people (including children) often die as a result of contracting rabies through dog meat consumption.


I do not see how campaigning to end this extreme cruelty and suffering is in any way racist - animal cruelty is animal cruelty wherever it takes place .... not all Chinese people take part in this slaughter, only a majority - therefore insinuating that it is "judging asian people" to sign a petition like this is the same as saying that a petition to end bullfighting is racist towards Spanish people, or a petition to end cruel factory farming in the UK is racist towards English people.

In my books, like many people, I do not consider culture/ethnic origin to be a shield for animal cruelty.

I already saw the links, the poor dogs trapped in cages like a foot tall. Absolutely terrible. I think that this cruelty should stop, of course.

A religious ritual where thousands of dogs suffer is NOT held in my country at all of even close... so yeah... that was not my point at all. Seriously...

I wish for the cruelty to stop, but that does not mean I feel the need to side with people I don't agree with as a whole. I'm not signing something where people are making racist comments. I am allowed to feel however I want and this:

is just something else. That really was not my point at all. Also, doesn't seem like you're lost for words, there are plenty of words in your comment. Not signing the petition doesn't mean that I want the cruelty to go on, it simply means I don't wish to sign for whatever reason.

Okay, I read the entire article and clicked every single link BEFORE posting my comment. I am aware of how horrible it is and I do think that it should stop. I simply don't wish to sign the petition.

Can't see where "racism" comes into any of this Its a petition against animal cruelty and that's putting in mildly...it's absolutely horrendous
