Hi Laura if it is deep I would go to the vets anyway.It may need a little stitch to help it knit together If will I guess grow back because the nail bed will still be there.

Ouch!! poor thing. does it affect a dog if at adult age they have to have it removed (for medical reasons)??

We got an appointment for tomorrow, the VN said that they may need to remove the claw.

If its not one thing with that dog it is another I tell ya lol.

Just thought I would let you know I had Cassy at the vets this morning, the nail is actually right out which the vet said was a good thing as if it wasnt they would have put her under and taken it out anyway.

She is on ceporex antibiotics for the next week and I have just to watch it carefully bathing it in some hibiscrub every few days and making sure it is covered when we go out on walks. Like has been mentioned she said there is a risk of infecetion spreading and if in 7 days it is still tender or bleeding she will have to go back for an Xray.

Anyway thought I would let you know thanks for the advice too lets just hope that over the next week she improves and it doesnt go further than having to have some antibiotics.
