If the owners insist that the dog be PTS some vets will do this rather than risk the dog being killed by illegal means .
Oh, my vets dont, suppose it's up to the vet really, thats intresting, I would've thought they'd do right by the dog

Taking a dog you have owned for 3 years from a puppy to be killed because its a staff makes you worse than horrible ..

I think the problem is the legal aspect of it. They can refuse to PTS (in which case is the dog killed in some other way?) and they can offer to rehome but if the owner said no the dog had to be PTS and the vet lied to get the dog away and then was found out I suspect they would be on dodgy ground.

Sad but true.

The would consider they are doing right by the dog . If the dog is going to be killed , better that it is done humanely by a vet than by some other illegal and probably very cruel means .

It's odd we condemn an individual doing this when so many dogs (perfectly healthy dogs) are PTS everyday in rescues but we give them money to carry on. Until all rescues have non kill policies in place they are sending out a message that if a dog is unwanted it is OK to PTS in fact that term PTS is misleading in someways too really.
