Our version was.......
He went up in an aeroplane to forty thousand feet,
ditto ditto
when his aeroplane went bang.
Glory glory what a helluva way to die

They scraped him off the tarmac like a dollop of strawberry jam
ditto
ditto
when his aeroplane went bang
glory glory etc.
They put him in a polythene bag and sent him home to mum.

oh goodness, think I had better stop there!!! This was the Girl Guides LS not the scouts, but I agree with you that both movements are an absolute must for youngsters.
