I totally agree with you. I find it very annoying when people say everyone should rescue and nobody breed.

I have waited coming up for 3 years for the pup I hope will be born early next year. From a fabulous breeder. I hope to show him. It is my ultimate aim to have a dog that we can travel with around europe doing lots of shows. Why should I be denied this as a hobby? I also have a very good friend in exactly the same position as me wanting a different breed.

We put a vast amount of time, money and effort into training our dogs for showing, agility and obedience. What is wrong with wanting a dog from a good breeder with the temperament and type hopefully as far as possible be what you are expecting.

I have never bred and have no intention of doing so. It is a hobby and one that I put everything into. I have also rescued dogs in the past and no doubt will again.

Nope he didn't have a good start in life but we have done wonders with him and are very proud.
But then again we have done the same with our rescue Toy Poodle he nearly died on us as nobody knew he had Cushings Disease for ages even before we got him.
So yes hold my head up high and think we do ok with caring for our dear dog's.

No matter what dog we own at the end of the day we own them and do our best to care for them.
One of my dog's had major surgery her bicep came away ,it cost a fortune but lucky we had insurance.
When we took her to the specialist to be operated on there were lots of Labs there all with H/D and E/D.
Three times we went back to the specialist and everytime there were lots of Labs there.
How sad is this
Its a regular thing in this practice to see this.

I dont agree with the breeding of crossbreeds... except for health reasons, or with a specific aim in mind where a proper plan has been set up... designer 'breeds' dont do that. I dont think anyone who breeds those dogs are ethical breeders... i obviously have no problems with the dogs (its not their fault, they didnt ask to be born), but i do with the breeders.

I also think people should breed as little as possible. An ethical breeder to me, is one who only breeds when they want a pup (amoung other things)... and not for the money etc. So that is fine IMO, but i think something seriously needs to be done about those who are churning out litter after litter, coz those people do affect rescues.

but whats wrong with the dog breeds that already exist? why just stick two random dogs together to create pets... i would much rather that if people wanted a pet and didnt mind on the breed, that they got a rescue.

there are so many breeds in existance, that people can surely find one to suit their needs.
