A fishy query...

I have got some salmon scraps to give the dogs but Im not sure how to go about preparing.......do I have to remove the bones? Can it be given raw? Should I just wrap it in foil and bake in the oven?
If I wanted to give the dogs pilchards, would I have to take the bones out of them?

Can you give dogs shellfish? (not in the shell )

Please, those who know, give me some fishy advice

Karen

I feed my dogs whole raw fish - heads, bones, innards the lot although I do sometimes take the fins off as they are quite scratchy to swallow ( not tried it myself but they look as though they would be ).

I also feed tinned pilchards, sardines and mackerel in either tomato sauce or oil and no the bones don't have to be removed.

My dog loves fish and is fed it once or twice a week.

If you are ever given fresh fish that has been caught using a rod and line as opposed to commercially netted do remember to check that all fish hooks have been removed from the fish.

Mine get fish at least once a week - just give it raw, no preparation is necessary

Wow - that is amazing.
What type of fish do you give. And just let them have it head and all??
Sydney has tinned sardines in oil about once a week, mixed with her kibble.
Tell me more about what type of fish I could give her. She is a bit of a gobbler and so would that still be OK with the fish bones or are the bones quite soft. I think I would probably be quite anxious!!
