He keeps missing.

I've got a bitch lined up for Toesy, but we aren't having much success.
I'm quite sure the bitch is ready, she is standing for him and moving her tail, she is no longer trying to go for him like she was a couple of days ago.
The problem is with Toesy, he's giving all he's got, but keeps missing He's either to high or to the side. She is slightly smaller than him, and he seems to be pointing it upwards instead of straight.
If we try to hold her to lift her up a bit, or we try to push him closer and direct it in, he just gets off and looses interest. But as soon as they are left to their own devices he's really keen again, But it won't work like that cos he's miles away.
Has any one got any advice as I need it badly.
This is the second day she has actually stood for him, so they can't be long left. They are coming back for another try tomorrow.
This is Toesy's first try, but the bitch has had a litter before.
She is eye tested clear too.

Mitch

We've recently had the exact same problem, ended up taking both dog and bitch to a very experience stud dog owner, but even she couldn't manage it. We ended up using a proven stud dog as we didn't want to miss. The boy in question is only 17 months and she thought he was a bit immature, so try again when another of our girls comes in season.

She said the dog has to trust you to do the 'hands on' bit.........which he thoroughly enjoyed, he was just too eager and was completely knackered out within 1/2 hour.

Good luck though, I'm hope Jayne will be able to help you out!

One of our stud dog sometimes misses quite alot, his trouble is he gets too excitable and the moment is lost lol!

We always take him for a nice long run before a mating so he is nice and chilled

i dont belive in touching the dog in anyway....i prefer to put hand under the bitch and a finger either side ov her vulva and move her to the dog....i find that dogs get too excited wen you touch them....i supose everyone does things diferently ...this way works for us....and hopefully toesy ....see you tomorro mitch...fingers crossed.....( strange tho isint it you see plenty mongrels tied n turned no matter wot size or breed just roaming the streets...i hate to see that...but they allways manage them selves eh )
