Lest I be accused of over officious pedantry please accept my apologies in advance. Lovely little film but the critters concerned are Coati Mundi indigenous to Central and Southern America.
Mongooses as far as I am aware are confined to Africa/India/Southern Asia.
Coatis make an engaging but rather demanding pets - better one is informed left to those with good grasp of their requirements.

See from your link that there are 13 sub species of coati - the ones I've seen are so alike as to be almost indistinguishable. Without some very serious study I'm not sure I would venture to be able to tell them all apart.
A lot of the Amerindians had them as pets and they were different shades of fawn or brown through to red. As there was this disparity of colour I always thought them just to be different shades of Coati Mundi as seen in Central America. Very informative - love any info on natural history, thanks.
