Windows 10

Don't download it, my new laptop was rendered useless for two days after this was downloaded. It's a known problem that they only tell you about after it's downloaded. Apparently Asus and Toshiba laptops will have an inoperable touchpad caused simply by downloading windows 10. Why is there no warning? They claim it's simple to fix yeah, try navigating round the screen with no curser. Luckily my son's friend Glen came to the rescue and uninstalled it. I think I'll stick to 8.1 as I never understood why it was so disliked any way. Think 10 will cause a riot if it causes everyone problems like mine.

Thanks for the warning Shirley

I have a Dell so the problem may not affect me but I am not going to accept W10 for some months, I want to give them time to iron out the bugs first .

My Gateway desktop shut down completely after downloading this. I was trying to be rid of the HATED Windows 8.1. FAIL! It's still out of commission. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it before I downloaded this. It will be taken to the repair shop soon. Listen to trouble... DON'T DOWNLOAD this on ANY computer.

I think a lot of computers will find themselves in for repair after this. It's still telling me to schedule my download, yeah right am I insane? Luckily my sons friend is a whiz with computers and has got me out of trouble a few times, he did offer a clean download but I think not.

I will certainly be downloading W10 in a few months when it has been 'debugged'.

I have it on good authority that once a new OS is launched the older ones fail to be adequately supported after a certain length of time so upgrading to the latest OS is the best thing to do from a security aspect.

Well, I've bitten the bullet and downloaded it.

Don't know what all the song and dance is about to be honest, but it went on my machine fine and, touch wood, is working fine up to now. My machine was running 8.1 and it was the upgrade that was put on.

On one of our older machines that is supposed to be compatible, it was a mess as the graphics card driver wasn't compatible and no upgrade is, as yet, available. We had to change it back to its original Windows 7 (very easy to do)

If I get any problems, I'll put it up here for those considering it

There was a thread about this started by Trouble. It messed up her computer, it messed up mine, and after reading around, it messed up lots of others. I highly recommend waiting to download it or not downloading it at all. It seems a crap shoot to whether your computer is going to be okay afterwards or not.
