Kylie ~ The Sweetest Thing - 7yo Black Greyhound

KYLIE

**UPDATED: SEPTEMBER 2012**

The sweet little Kylie is a 7 year old Irish greyhound lady who, after 32 races and even a litter of pups, is now finally ready to find her retirement sofa. She is a petite little black girl with the sweetest wee face that has a peppering of grey around the edges. Kylie has spent all her life so far in kennels, so her coat needs some care and a good brush, but she is in good health and condition.

~ Personality ~
Kylie is, in short, a sweet little sweetiepie! And have we said that she’s very sweet?? She’s gorgeous in both looks and personality, and really just wants to be fawned over, loved and cuddled all day long. She really enjoys being around people, and would stand with you all day long if you gave out ear scratches. At the same time though, Kylie is not in your face or overly demanding about getting her quota of love. She is very much content with what she gets, and doesn’t ask for much at all. Kylie is very gentle and quite sensitive. She may take a few minutes to come to you, but once she knows you dole out the lovins you have a friend for life!

~ In the Home ~
Kylie has sadly not been in a home environment before, so new owners will need to be a bit patient during the first couple of weeks and allow her time to settle in and learn the home rules. It generally takes 10-14 days for new greyhounds to start to settle down in a home, and really all they need is a bit of time and patience. We are very much aiming to have this girl out of kennels before the weather turns cold again – she has surely seen enough winters by now.

~ Other Animals ~
Kylie is very well behaved with the other greyhounds in the kennels. She has not been tested with small dogs but this will be carried out prior to adoption. She is not cat friendly.

~ Out and About ~
Like most greyhounds, Kylie is not an overly active girl and so will not need a huge amount of exercise. She will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch her legs offlead in a secure area once or twice a week. Kylie travels well in the car, walks brilliantly on the lead, and is just an all-round star to bring on walks.

~ Medical Issues ~
Kylie is currently in kennels in Ireland, but once she travels to us in the UK she will be receiving a full veterinary check along with a dental and neutering.

~ Where Am I? ~
Kylie is currently being kennelled in Ireland but will be travelling across Norfolk, UK on the 29th September. She can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you will be required to travel to us in Norfolk to meet her.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Kylie will be neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed prior to adoption, and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. This girl would greatly benefit from being in a foster home, and Kerry Greyhounds UK is always in desperate need of new fosterers. It is such a rewarding experience, and costs are covered by the rescue.

If you are interested in adopting or fostering Kylie, please visit either our website’s Adoption Page or Fostering Page: for information and instructions on our homing & fostering procedures. If you have any further questions or problems, please feel free to email me (Tam). Emails are usually replied to within 24 hrs. Thanks!

~~ KERRY GREYHOUNDS UK ~~

Kerry Greyhounds UK is a small voluntary organisation that is based in Norfolk, England. It focuses on rehoming unwanted Irish greyhounds and lurchers, as huge numbers are bred in Ireland each year and homes are few and far between. KGUK operates through a network of volunteers spaced over Ireland and the UK. We can look after approximately 30 dogs at any one time in both kennels and foster homes.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, & microchipped before being adopted (unless stated otherwise).
We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in all corners of the UK.

If interested in one of our hounds, please visit our website’s Adoption Page for information and instructions on our homing procedures. Once you have filled in and returned the application form, we will then contact you via phone or email to discuss adopting one of our hounds in more detail.

If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.
Emails are usually replied to within 24hrs.

Thank you.

~ In the Home ~
Kylie has just entered foster care where she is experiencing living in a home for the first time in her life. Naturally she is a bit overawed at the moment, but we expect her to settle very quickly as she’s a naturally calm little girl. Once she discovers the joys of sofa roaching we doubt she’ll ever want to move again!

~ Other Animals ~
Kylie is very well behaved with other greyhounds and is currently sharing her foster home with another elderly female. She has not been tested with small dogs but this will be carried out prior to adoption. She is not cat friendly.

Like most greyhounds, Kylie is not an overly active girl and so will not need a huge amount of exercise. ~ Medical Issues ~
Kylie recently visited the vet and was given the all clear apart from having very bad teeth. This has now been sorted and, though she has just 11 teeth left, she’s already feeling a lot better.

~ Where Am I? ~
Kylie is currently in a foster home in Buckinghamshire. She can be adopted to anywhere in the UK, but please note you will need to travel to her foster home to meet/collect her.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Kylie is vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed, and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. She is not yet neutered as she recently had a fairly major dental where most of her teeth had to be removed, and so we want to give her time to recover before putting her under another procedure. Please feel free to ask about the details of this when you enquire about her.

If you are interested in adopting Kylie, please visit our website’s Adoption Page for information and instructions on our homing procedures. If you have any further questions or problems, please feel free to email me (Tam). Emails are usually replied to within 24 hrs. Thanks!

**UPDATED: 7th NOVEMBER 2012**

Location: Foster home in Buckinghamshire, UK.

The sweet little Kylie is a 7 year old Irish greyhound lady who, after 32 races and even a litter of pups, is now finally ready to find her retirement sofa. She is a petite little 25” black girl with the sweetest wee face that has a peppering of grey around the edges. Kylie has spent all her life so far in kennels, but other than very much needing a dental, she is in good condition.

Kylie is currently in a foster home with 6 other dogs.

~ Personality ~
Kylie is so incredibly sweet, a real sweet little sweetiepie! And have we said that she’s sweet?? She’s gorgeous in both looks and personality, and really just wants to be fawned over and doted on all day long. She loves to give and get affection and is a cuddle sponge. She really enjoys being around people, and would stay with you all day long if you gave out ear scratches. At the same time though, Kylie is not in your face or overly demanding about getting her quota of love. She is very much content with what she gets, and doesn’t ask for much at all. Kylie is very gentle and quite sensitive. She can be a wee bit shy in new situations, but doesn’t take long at all to get over it and enjoy the moment.

~ In the Home ~
Kylie has been in her foster home for just over a month now and is doing splendidly. She has picked up the house routine very quickly from watching and following her 6 foster siblings. She is fully housetrained now and is not destructive when left with her just her doggie friends for company. She has not yet understood the point of toys, but is a very bright, interactive little lady who likes to be with you and do what you ask.

Kylie’s other main love in life is her tummy. She LOVES food and feeding time and at the moment tends to get rather overexcited when she knows she’s going to be fed. She just loves her grub! This love for food means that she sees a regular kitchen as a rather generous open top buffet of new and exciting food, so right now she is guilty as a bin raider, counter surfer and food pincher. These manners will come with time and its early days for her yet. Right now she doesn’t understand that she’s supposed to ignore the lovely food that’s being prepared, she thinks it’s all for her! Her foster parents are working on teaching her to sit and wait for her supper.

~ Other Animals ~
Kylie gets on very well with other dogs and really loves their company. She shares her foster home with a pack and slotted in very well. With the exception of meal times, she has lovely manners and will share her space happily with other dogs. Right now she is being fed separately from the other dogs as she would rather like look of her neighbours supper too!

Kylie is getting used to meeting other breeds of dog, as she has seen mostly greyhounds up to this point. We will be testing her with small dogs in the near future. So far she is very polite in meeting them once she knows that they are dogs. Kylie is not cat or small furry friendly.

~ Out and About ~
Kylie is sprightly for her age but is still a greyhound, and therefore is a beautiful couch potato who will be content with a couple of short walks, or one long walk each day and perhaps a chance to stretch her legs in a secure area once or twice a week. She walks beautifully on the lead though can on occasion pull if she sees a cat in the distance. Kylie also travels very well and settles down immediately.

~ Medical Issues ~
Kylie recently visited the vet and was given the all clear apart from having very bad teeth. This has now been sorted and, though she has just 11 teeth left, she’s already feeling a lot better.

**UPDATED: 25th MARCH 2013**

Location: Foster home in Buckinghamshire, UK.
Key Points: Super sweet, affectionate, well adjusted, home savvy, good traveller.

The sweet little Kylie is a 7 year old Irish greyhound lady who, after 32 races and even a litter of pups, is now finally ready to find her retirement sofa. She is a petite 25” black girl with the sweetest wee face that has a peppering of grey around the edges. Kylie has spent all her life so far in kennels and has raised her fair share of greyhound puppies, but is in good condition and health.

Kylie is currently in a foster home with 4 other dogs.

~ Personality ~
Generally: Loving, calm, very affectionate, undemanding.

Kylie is very gentle and quite sensitive. She can be a wee bit shy in new situations, but doesn’t take long at all to get over it and enjoy the moment.

~ In the Home ~
Generally: Housetrained, good with canine company, not-destructive, learning not to steal!
Kylie has been in her foster home for 5 months now and is doing splendidly. She has the house routine down pat from watching and following her foster siblings. She is fully housetrained and is not destructive when left with just her doggie friends for company. She comes when called and has even started playing with toys! Her favourite toys are squeaky ones, and she is much improved in her sharing abilities now that she knows there are plenty of toys to go around. When she first entered foster care, she tried to hoard and defend her ‘bounty’, but has relaxed considerably over the past few months. It’s a delight to see her adjusting to the home life, and she is definitely ready for a forever home to call her own now.

Kylie’s primary love in life is her tummy. She LOVES food and feeding time and is trying very hard to remember to be patient at meal times. She just loves her grub! She has gotten much better with the house rules and knows not to steal off the kitchen counters, and even leaves the kitchen entirely on command. Bin bags left unattended outside are still fair game, but she is learning at a good steady pace. She is even refining her tastes of late, after taking a liking to the odd cup of tea!

~ Medical Issues ~
Kylie recently visited the vet had her very bad teeth sorted. Though she now just has 11 left, she is a happy healthy lady. She can get a slight limp on one of her front legs after a hard run or longer walk, and it is believed that this is due to an old injury. She does not need any medication for it other than perhaps a joint aid food supplement.

~ Other Animals ~
Generally: Very good in general, care needed with smalls.
Kylie gets on very well with other dogs and really loves their company. She shares her foster home with a well adjusted pack and slotted in very well. She will give a wee grumble if another dog steps on her while sleeping, but there isnt any follow-through. She’s just an older lady who likes a bit of respect from her fellow canines. Kylie can live with other dogs and would adapt just fine as an only dog provided there is someone at home to give her company – she’s not overly keen on being left alone.

Kylie is getting used to meeting other breeds of dog, as she has seen mostly greyhounds up to this point. She is now fine with meeting other medium to large dogs regardless of shape., but a bit of care is needed when introducing her to very small dogs as she might not realise they are indeed canines. So far she is very polite in meeting them once she sees them to have dog behaviour. Kylie is not cat or small furry friendly.

~ Out and About ~
Generally: Walks well, good traveller, polite with people/canines, will pull upon sight of a small furry.
Kylie is a beautiful couch potato who will be content with a couple of shortish walks and perhaps a chance to stretch her legs in a secure area once or twice a week. She can on occasion have a slight limp on her front leg if she overdoes it when running, and is doing very well with two 30 min walks a day at a steady pace. She walks beautifully on the lead though can on occasion pull if she sees a cat or squirrel in the distance. Kylie also travels very well and settles down immediately.

Kylie is a very low maintenance lady who asks for nothing beyond tasty food and daily cuddles. She would suit a relatively sedate household who will potter around with her on daily walks but not push her too much.
