Scratching

My boy cant stop scratching, its not fleas, skin is a little dry but not excessively; can dogs get hayfever?

Anthistamines?

I have loads as I cant live without them myself.

They are allowed piriton and i will have a look for the dosage that Smokeybear posted yesterday and guide you to it give me a min

When does this scratching occur, at the same time every year?

What does the vet say?

Vitamin C is a natural antihistamine and your vet should tell you if you can use Piriton.

Have you ruled out other environmental issues in the house?

But here is the dosage guide she posted yesterday
It is perfectly safe to give some Piriton to a dog, if you would like the dosage it is as follows:

4 – 8 mg large dog x 2 a day, 2 – 4 mg x 2 a day small ones

It will not hurt your dog.

If I had a dog that was scratching I would not want to dry out the skin even more by using salt water, but I would use Aloe Vera Gel which is soothing, cooling and healing.

If it IS heat rash, than Aloe Vera is the best thing for this topically.

Alternatively there many other things that can help such as Phytobalm from Hilton Herbs etc

Doesnt matter where we are, I changed his food years ago becuase of this and it seemed to work unless it was just coincience. Could be just moulting?

Well if it occurs all year round then it is either an environmental issue present all year round or a food issue.

If you changed his food and it worked, what changed?

Why did you change from the food that was working?

What do you feed him now?

hes on Nature diet, half a pac and a cup of James WellB. Can think whats change other than the weather.
