Ribs!

I got some cheap pork ribs from the butcher today (along with some wild bore steaks), but don't know how to cook the ribs!
Does anyone know how to cook them, also, anyone have a recipe for a nice sauce for them?

Very simple recipe for sauce = ketchup, honey, Worcestershire sauce and chili flakes if you like a bit of heat.

As for cooking time -whatever it says on the box!!

Here's my recipe - Loverly jubberly I've kinda written it for a beginner as not sure of your cooking expertise

2 tablespoon (tbs) each of honey, orange juice, oil
1 finely choped onion
1 clove of garlic - crushed
4oz tomato puree
10oz brown sugar
1tbs mustard, worcestershire sauce

Bake ribs for 20mins Gas 7 200c, put all above ingredients (except sugar) in a pan and bring to the boil, when boiling slowly add sugar stirring continuosly (or the sugar will sink and stick to bottom of pan) simmer for 5 mins. It gets quite sticky so watch out for it sticking to bottom of pan
Remove ribs reduce oven to gas 5, 180c
Pour half of sauce over ribs, turnover and pour other half of liquid over ribs
Return to oven for 25mins. You can take out and spoon mix over ribs during cooking if you want

Remove and eat - lovely texan barbeque ribs

I have a great rib recipe but not sure if its your cuppa tea !

get 2 or 3 cloves of garlic, and a good handful of fennel seeds, grind it all up to as much of a mush as you can and baste the ribs all over with it. salt and pepper to taste

Brown ribs in frying pan and then add 100ml of orange juice, bit of chicken stock and a very decent swig of marsala wine.

Stick in in the oven for at least 45 minutes turning frequently..

the longer you cook the ribs basting regularly with the sauce the softer they will be.

I usually then boil up some taglitelle and serve with it, pouring the rib sauce over the pasta, If you like a thicker sauce then thicken with some flour first in the pan.

I love these ribs !!!!

This is my ultimate rib marinade, i would usually leave them in this marinade for 24 hours if possible:

* 6 tablespoons of Tomato Ketchup
* 2 tablespoons of Brown Sauce
* 2 tablespoons of BBQ sauce
* 1 tablespoon of Sweet Chilli Sauce
* 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire Sauce
* 2 tablespoons of Soy Sauce
* 1 tablespoon of Chinese 5 spice powder
* 2 cloves of finely chopped garlic
* 100ml Orange Juice
* 1 shot of Dark Rum
* 2 tablespoons of Honey

Pour over ribs and leave for 24 hours then lift and place ribs into baking tray and pour some of the marinade over and cook in oven as per rib pack instructions or about 200 degrees. Perfect every time for me!

I always serve with wedges and corn on the cob - delish!!

On Saturday Kitchen last week, there was a recipe for ribs and James Martin liked it that much, he sat at the table with the guests, with the roasting tin moping up the sauce. I printed the recipe and will try it at New Year when we have friends round.
