Car or a Van... large dog owners help please!

Hi!

My car isnt going to carry on much longer so we are looking for a new car...

Just wondered if i could get some opinions and recommendations from you guys.

I've been looking at lots of different cars and also small vans. My issue is that my parking skills are not good!! So it cant be too wide but must be big enough for 2 greyhounds...

Ideally i would like it to be big enough to fit 2 crates in to keep them safe on our travels. It also has to be reliable and comfortable as my journey to work will be a little longer than it is now.

I am currently looking at the smallest of vans, do any of you have vans and would you recommend any specific vans?

Do any of you have large dogs and a car you love that they actually fit in?

I LOVE my van - I have a Transit - but if I had smaller or less dogs I'd have a Transit connect.

On a serious note, if you didn't have to have many passengers you could get a small car and have custom crates built to go over the rear sets (folded down), that's my plan as I rarely have one non-furry passenger, let alone more, so my two just travel clipped in with the back seats down. When I get a car that's not an old heap of rubbish I'm going to get a decent cage built for it.
Otherwise there's the half car, half van type option with things like the Citroen Berlingo, they're quite popular with dog owners.

I did manage to fit Paris in the boot of my toyota yaris once for an emergency vet visit!

The Yaris has gone now, i currently have a vw golf which is fab because it does have a large boot.. but still not big enough for 2 crates. We Currently travel with Phil in the boot and paris on the back seats. We dont take the dogs in the car alot but will be more when we move in january time. I'd just like travelling to be safer for all of us.

I've been looking at the berlingo, the Vauxhall combo and just had a peek at the ford transit connect but it looks a little large for me. I Hardly ever have passengers and most of the time it will just have me and no dogs in so it must be comfy for commuting.

I've just got a ford escort van perfect for my work as a market trader and all 3 dogs fit in the back and it's easy to park ...but not to brag or anything ... I can park any where any space any way

He he! Teach me how please! Seriously i had no problem parking my first car (ford ka) second car (toyota yaris) but my Golf is a nightmare. Dont know if i've lost my parking confidence or if its just the car! Will blame the car. Its obviously the car...

I LOVE the Micra! I wish they sold it over here in the States. We drove one around Ireland our first year there and it was an awesome little car.

Wish they made a micra-van!
