The wedding cakes so far...

...I started decorating them yesterday, I still have to make the flowers for one of them, and I thought I would carry the leaves right over the edges of the cake boards, just so the silver doesn't show through and detract from the flowers.

I hope you like them

The bottom layer:

The top layer:

The whole thing:

The top and bottom cakes are sponge with jam and cream in, and the middle one is a fruit cake...I have to finish decorating that one.

Dogsey member Alexandra very kindly lent us the cake stand

Thanks for looking

that looks fantastic!! is that sugar paste? I'm attempting to make a birthday cake next week & covering it in sugar paste icing but haven't a clue what I'm going to do yet! (won't be anywhere near as good as yours though!) I've been watching cake boss on tv
Show us it finished too won't you? How long until the big day now?

Thankyou

I bought the ready rolled icing and then coloured it, then just made the leaves using some shapes I had bought, the flowers I just made by rolling the icing out, cutting into half circles and then squidging into shape

I had an attempt earlier in the year when I did a sunflower but this is my first proper attempt, I am quite pleased with the result but am a bit embarrased wondering whether the wedding guests will realise I did it myself, especially if any of them know how to decorate a cake properly

The wedding is this Saturday and I'll make sure I take some photos of the finished article

Fantastic
I don't think you have anything to fear from people having anything negative thoughts at all - it really does look lovely.

I love the way the way you have put the leaves around the base

having both fruit cake and sponge - we did similar - but didn't think to do it as different tiers!. Our sponge cake was marked out as a basketball court since that's how we met

I can't believe its your wedding this we
