Ring classes

Does anyone know of any ring classes in the shropshire area? We live in telford but would be willing to travel the the surounding areas. The only club i could find was a gen training club and they close for the summer!

It does seem that Telford has not joined with the 21st century and most people don't have websites and just tend to relie on word of mouth.

I'm new to showing and just want to know how to help my dog in the ring. . .

Its the Canine society who I am assuming hold shows (most do) so would anticipate they would or be linked to a ringcraft?

Fingers crossed!

I'm faced with the same problem Rachel. Ive tried googling and there's one near me but sadly they're on the one evening that I can't do

I asked at the vets this morning and they've given me a few obedience class numbers near to me, but I don't know if they've got ring classes that run along side of them or not until I ring

I know its a real pain! The one ring class in my area doesn't run anymore and the one they pointed me two starts at 7pm and is ages away. There is no way i would be able to get there by 7pm as my OH doesn't come home until 6:45pm and i can't drive

I have a few numbers to try but they are all trainning classes (which i don't want) not ring classes. I'm just hoping one of them may do ring classes as well.

Have you tried your local vets? Mine have a notice board that tells you all the local clubs that hold obedience/socialisation and ringcraft classes if not ask if they know of any, or have alook through your phonebook.

Get in touch with the Kennel Club for registered canine societies in your area, lots of these will hold ringcraft classes. General dog training classes (as long as they use positive methods, e.g. APDT members) will help you to teach your dog to stand still and move nicely and also the socialisation with the other dogs and people will help. I run general classes and if someone comes to us who also wants to show we give extra instruction on ringcraft methods and get the dog used to people going over him. A lot of pet people are upping their acts now for the companion shows!!!
