Staffie showing

Hey guys, Hippo and i went to our first ringcraft last night. Very interesting, as well as hectic and noisy. Met some really friendly and knowledgable people and also some gorgeous dogs. The dogs there all looked so lean and muscular and toned. How do you guys get your dogs to look like that?

Often dogs which look 'amazing' and very mature at a young age are 'overdone' by the time they are adults. You are far better off with a pup looking like a pup and maturing slowly....its a bit like 'the tortoise and the hare'...the fast maturing pups start fast and then 'die off' with the slow maturers make slow and steady progress and staying all the way to the finish line!
My youngest elkhound was placed last EVERY outing as a pup and in junior because he was very 'backwards'.As soon as he was in post grad he started to win and place at champ shows and now hes 4 years old is rarely out of the first 2 in Limit and has 2RCC.
