Do not look up the answerA compass needle in the Northern hemisphere points north
which way would it point in the southern hemisphere?

In the northern hemisphere the positive side of a compass is attracted by the north pole.
In the Southern hemisphere the negative side of a compass is attracted to the south pole
Hence the compass always points north
