Old school friends

Had a shock this weekend. One of my old school buddies died in Portugal of liver complications. We were all quite tight when we were at school and in sixth form, but I hadn't seen him in years. However, we got in touch again a few years ago on a particular social networking site. I was only speaking to him on there a few days ago

Since hearing about his untimely death, I was also told that another school friend died two years ago of cancer. That brings the total (as far as I know) in our year to four deaths (two accidents, two illnesses).

We were all only 40 this year

So sad.

Carpe Diem. Seize the day!

Sorry to hear that news. It really hits home doesn't it.

One of my close school friends only just reached 30. She was seemingly the healthiest of us all - a real keen athlete who competed at county level. I was so shocked when I heard the news.

That is it. I think it has made me really think about the fact you don't know what is going to happen, and to make the best of each day (well as much as is possible in every day life).

Thanks, I am ok, just shocked and sad.

I will be 22 in November, already we have had 2 deaths within our year group... One died just after his 20th birthday, the other tragic death while on holiday under 2 weeks before her 21st birthday

My mum is a doctor, and on their first ever lecture when she was at uni, the guy counted the room and said "statistically, three of you won't live to complete this course" and he was right.... two RTCs and one meningitis.
