I went and assessed a potential pet home for rescue the other week and they had a dog which had this gait.

I asked the owners if they realised their dogs paced and they had not really observed he was any different other than he looked "gay" from behind (their words not mine before I get accused of homophobia)

I told them that it was not normal and that it is either a sign of laziness, fatigue or an underlying medical issue usually with the spine or a conformational fault. This particular dog was overweight which was an added issued.

It something which I have looked at extensively over the past two years at the various musculo skeletal seminars I have attended.

It is a pity your dog does not tolerate hands on as a massage therapist or physio might be able to rule out any underlying unsoundness.

Hmmm, interesting. Well he's not over weight. He does appear to have a small hump in the centre of his spine. It could be tiredness, as I only notice when he's run if around off lead. However he gets limited off lead opportunities so could be fitter so tires quickly after running. Sadly no chance with a physio if they wish to keep their hands That said, he tolerated a Ttouch practitioner who was a total stranger and ended up massaging his gums so you never know!

Anyway, all sounds fascinating. Wish I had the time and the money to attend more seminars. Enjoy!

Lucky you SB, anatomy and locomotion are areas of great interest for me.

Nyle was being complimented on his prancing from an old couple walking across the road from us earlier.
