Three dongle on windows7

Hi bought a new acer laptop this week running windows 7 arrived yesterday my mums vodaphone dongle worked on it straight away but my 3 one did not,installed drivers etc after plugging into usb,it showed signal and asked me to connect,after a few mins says check settings as cant connect to network,it works fine on my mums laptop running xp.its a white dongle doesnt list windows 7 on box but lists xp,2000 and vista.do i need to ring three to upgrade dongle its a contract one and 2_3years old.its a huawei E160gG usb modem.
