Good vibes for my boy

Max is having a scale and polish on his teeth tomorrow, and xrays on all of his legs whilst he is under. He's always had 'dodgy' joints and has crepitus in both of his carpal joints suggesting early arthritis but we've never had the opportunity to xray him (I'd rather he didn't have an unecessary GA). He is maintained pretty well on glucosamine supplements at the moment although I know in a few years maximum we will be looking at NSAIDs too.

He runs around like any normal collie, but stiffens up in the mornings and often seems uncomfortable on his right fore when removing his harness after walks. Every so often he will have a very slight lameness in one hind limb which lasts a maximum of a day and then he is perfectly fine again.

So I've decided while he is under for his teeth I may aswell bite the bullet and xray him too to get a better picture of what's going on.

Please send my boy some good wishes for his big day tomorrow (he's a bit of a wimp too you see ). I'll be glad when he's home safe and sound again.

Hoping all goes well for Max tomorrow Hayley, lots of positive vibes that it'll be a good outcome with his joints. Good idea to get this kind of thing done whilst he's under anyway so you know what you're dealing with, so all the best for him.

Thanks for the good wishes everyone, all went well for Max today and he is currently laying on his bed desperately trying to fight the anaesthetic effects and stay awake have to say he's not managing it very well bless him!

Xrays revealed what we already knew, just the beginning of arthritis in his carpal joints, nothing really untoward on the rest of them. At least now I know there's nothing nasty going on there and everything is pretty normal.

And to top it off he now has a set of pearly white teeth and sweeter breath to go with it so mummy's happy!
