What would people pay for photo session of their pet

Hi,

I'm setting myself up as a photographer. I'd like some opinions on whether owners have ever considered getting a photographer to take photos of their pet and if they have what would they be prepared to pay. Also would like to know whether they would prefer a studio, their house or an outside destination?

I've got a Labrador and must admit never thought about it until I needed someone to practice with lighting in my studio and she volunteered herself.

Regards,

Jon

We have brought pictures from the pet portait company when they have held comps in Pets at home. The sitting was free but then the images where about £30 for a big one in a frame and maybe £20 for 3 or something like that. Here is there site to see what they offer:

Thanks for the info. It's a strategy hadn't thought of and quite a good one.

I would probably pay up to £100 if it was a very good photographer. I have had professional photos of my children and paid more than that but the images are so beautiful - i'd have paid more.

I guess it really depends what I was getting- will they go to a location of my choice- how many images will I get etc.

Thanks for that. I've already posted this photo on a different thread but this is the standard I'm at currently.

That's a lovely photo, I like the white background.
I would like a professional photo of Axel, the deal I heard about sounds good, free session and £20 for a decent sized photo. I would probably pay more if I was really happy with the pictures.
I like studio like the picture you posted, but also natural outdoor pictures.

Yes I'm realising from talking to people that they might prefer outdoor shots where their pet would be more comfortable. The one above in the studio was a bit of an accident because the dog followed me in and plonked herself in the way.

As a further thought what would other people prefer studio shots or natural outdoor shots?
