Axels first camping trip (Greyhound)

Well, I'm back, we both survived! My hubbie, me, Axel and my immediate family (Mum, 5 siblings, bro-in-law and 18month old nephew) embarked on Monday to Weston-Super-Mere for a camping trip. Axel as always was fantastic in the car. When we arrived we set him up on a short tether and with a fabric crate for safety while we set up tents. In the first few mins he managed to get himself tangled several times and tip over the crate (we then pegged it down when outside). So a stressful beginning and we were trying to get set up before dark.

Axels shining moment of glory (note sarcasm) was when we were using a patio outside eating area (Cheddar is a dog friendly place) and Axel hadn't long been the toilet (number 1 and 2) and he chooses this spot to do the biggest poo I've ever seen, a pile of smushy nastiness that was 2 1/2 bags worth to clean up! Of course it stank and my siblings made a fuss so everyone was watching me pick up and rinse the stench and several people moved - oh the shame!

Note - some are attempts at being 'arty'...my excuse is there isn't much to do on a campsite!

Do these need a trim?

My little nephew finally started being less scared of Ax, giving him fun things to do like hold the end of lead and playing with Ax's equipment has helped him

I LOVE this picture, so funny! I must mention his muzzle wasn't on too tight, it was just how he lay his head and squashed it in...

Wrecking the fort, he knows how to make himself popular! :

Having a run around

Getting more comfortable

Sorry for the volume of pictures - this was the edited down version, I promise!!!

Awww!!! He looks like he had a fantastic time. Some brilliant pics there. You have given us a little hope that one day we'll be brave enough to take our two greyhounds camping

Thanks all, anyone thinking of camping with their dog should try it He did settle into it as it went on
Greyhounds sleep so much that once he'd settled when tethered he was no bother
