Jenna - 23/9/96 - 24/5/2010

It was with a heavy heart that I made the decision to have Jenna pts yesterday.

Having recovered well from her "stroke" like incident last August she developed doggy dementia which improved on medication but she also decided she would only eat when she wanted and only what she wanted. This had gone on for some time but over the last week had got worse. It was put down to her having a very severe bladder infection but she did not improve once this was cleared. A steroid injection helped for a few days but yesterday the signs were that she had had enough. She just lay on a bed and when let out fell over.

I held and cuddled her and she went to sleep peacefully. The house now seems empty and it is the first time that an Afghan has no graced a sofa in 30 odd years.

Can I add how much I miss Jenna as well, it seems strange being able to walk in a straight line without a hairy mat with one eye looking at you to avoid. She had the knack of being able to be in the exact place you wanted to pass.
