dog on public transport - particularly trams in London

I've got an appointment for Max to see an Eye Specialist in Wimbledon. We live in South East London so the easiest journey involves a Train to East Croydon, a Tram from there to Wimbledon, then a bus to the specialist.

I'm wondering if a small dog is allowed on these forms of transport in London. If not, I'm kinda stuck as I doubt a cab will let him in!

anyone here know what the policy is for dogs on public transport?

Hi,

I'm in Birmingham and have taken dogs on public transport previously (albeit a hell of along time ago). So long as yoru dog is under your control all the time, I don't see why there would be a problem.

It may be worth checking with the bus/train operators though.

If there is a problem, do you ahve any family or friends who could give you a lift?

Laura xx

I have taken dogs on trains and on buses and they travel free. In Manchester they will not let them on the trams though. You do get stupid people acting like they have a plague carrier in their midst, but I ignore them and give them my biggest smile

I'm in London and mine have been on buses, trains and tubes, not sure about trams though.

Its usually at the drivers discretion and i always ask the driver if its ok, have never been refused yet.

thanks, I think that the Tram is the only one I'm now unsure about as I've found out that National Rail allow dogs and busses, it's up to the driver.

My dog is little so I can carry him on escalators

If anyone knows about trams in London or how I can contact the tram operator please let me know.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

Wow! Are there trams in London again? I can remember them when I was tiny.
I find a lot of taxi drivers will take dogs BTW.

Update: Took Max on the tram and no one complained. Didn't see any notices stating that no dogs were allowed.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

ClaireandDaisy > there are trams in south London only. I'm not sure how long they have been there as I only moved here less than a year ago.
