Job quandary...

Some of you know that I've packed in teaching this year, and am thinking about what to do next. I sent a CV into an environmental consultancy, and they've said I'd suit them well, but they have to see whether they can justify taking on another member of staff.

Meanwhile, not one, not two, but three jobs have become available in the local marine research institute. As far as I can see from the advert, I'm perfectly qualified for them, it would be a lot closer to home, and it's civil service (think pensions and conditions!!!) One (potential) problem is that I'd be working in the same building, albeit a different department, as my husband. He and I have worked in the same place before and it was fine, but we'd established our separate identities there before we got together. I'm a little bit wary of going in somewhere and being "so and so's wife."

On the upside, it'd be on the university campus where I've still got a load of friends to go for lunches with, and drinks on Friday nights. What do you lot think?

That sounds a wonderful oportunity!
It can be difficult when you work in the same building, but how often would you be in touch? Is it a smallish place where everyone knows everyone else?
I am sure you would sort it out!

Jenny, I have to say, this looks a perfect prospect to me and I wouldn't worry about the "wife of so and so" nonsense. Go for it hon

No, it's really not that small, so I'm sure it would be fine. I suppose I'm trying to find the negatives before I get really excited about the prospect.
