New tapes!
A friend (Mrs S' cousin) in Wells sent me two tapes this morning, of Django Reinhard and the Quintette du Hot Club de France - all origihal recordings made between 1936 and 1939.
I've had them playing all day today (Mrs S is off seeing her g/kids in Bracknell, so I've managed to have NO TV on!), and they're great! Sound quality is as good as if made today, and the music itself is brilliant, even though I'm not really a jazz fan!
Django had lost several fingers: I wish I was that good on my guitar, and I've still got all mine!
I'm still waiting for a CD of Stephane Grappelli and Yehudi Menuhin, which I ordered from Britannia three weeks ago!
These tapes are magnificent!
