To solve a discussion

When the clocks go forward, 8pm GMT will then become 9pm. I mean if the clocks go forward they do not stay at GMT. Right?

Either that or someone is very wrong.

The clocks going forward doesn't change the time zone that you are in. It knocks EVERY time zone forward, so in turn it's all the same.

It's not as if my zone, which is EST goes forward while your zone doesn't. They all change, so the time zones don't.

Think of a line of people, if everyone takes a step forward at the same time... everyone is still in the same place, despite having moved forward.

I totally just confused myself!! But I think you get what I mean.

P.S. the clocks already went forward here.

I believe, but could be wrong, that we will be on GMT + 1?

And I think in the winter months, we are on GMT?

See, I didn't know that! Learn something new everyday. I guess Malka's comment is very much valid in that case!

I still don't think the time zones change. Mine never changes, even though apparently the clocks don't all go forward at the same time.

GMT never changes when we in Britain put forward our clocks by 1 hour is becomes BST as in British Summer Time but for other countries that work from GMT it becomes as someone has already said GMT +1 in Britain.

Other countries change their clocks at different times but it is all in relation to GMT.
Greenwich Mean Time is the basis for setting time all around the world.
So in summer as Anniebee says we are on GMT +1 or BST British Summertime.
I wish we could stay on GMT and forget all this changing clocks
