Borzoi in Rescue

In a rescue in Devon (they will only rehome to Devon/cornwall/Somerset)

Such a rare breed to see in rescue - Just wondered if anyone knew of anyone looking or knew of anyone with them.....Always worth a shot.

My name is Boris and I am a 19 month old Borzoi. I am a lovely, gentle dog and I like my home comforts. I can take a while to get used to people as I am a very shy dog but I’m very sweet when I know you. I am looking for a quiet, rural home where I can have lots of quiet cuddles. I am looking for owners who are very experienced with my breed or with large, nervous dogs. I am suitable to live with another dog and children over 16. I am not currently on public view as I have my own special kennel.

Wow - they are rare - how come they are only rehoming in that area - surely he'd find a home if the area was widened? Such beautiful dogs too - any background info on him or just what is quoted?

Only what is quoted, direct from the Website. Most rehoming centres like the dogs to stay fairly close in case of back up being needed.

I wonder if the breeder knows, or if there is anyway of tracing - I would be devastated to find a pup in rescue and these are not exactly common dogs.

No - not exactly too common - I know a man who has two - he called them Russian something or other - it was only when I googled them that I realised he had Borzoi's but that's up here..

Maybe the rescue will contact the breeders in the area or someone else will?

I'd like to know his background, why would someone give a beautiful animal up and one you don't often see either.. - it could be due to his nervousness - as in the quote...

Not often which is one of my bugbears, instead of letting breed experts find a suitable home, they often refuse to hand them over (thus stopping another dog being taken) which is poor business IMV

I agree - I understand it is not always possible, but with rare breeds such as this, it seems silly to have dog sitting in rescue when breed rescues often have vetted homes lined up and waiting.

I have emailed the rescue co-ordinator.....I guess we will see what happens....
