Just thought I'd ask

My daughter and I have not had the "best" of relationships.

She left home at 18 and I didn't hear from her again until she was 31.

She had, by, then, had a child. (whom I have only seen 3 times).

My daughter came to visit me about a month ago, with my grandaughter.

Since then, my daughter has sent me a "shopping list" of what she would like to "inherit" when I am dead.

I sent off a sort of "joking" reply, asking if she had decided what year she would prefer me to die.

She replied that I was just as "deadly" as she remembered.

What have I done wrong?

Mother/daughter relationships have to be one of the hardest IMO. If it's any consolation, and it probably isn't my relationship with my daughter is also awful.
Big hug honey - I know exactly what you are going through.

I am shocked and speechless! You've done nothing wrong - but I feel she has!

From what you have said Ozmutt you have done nothing wrong and without wishing to sound rude your daughters wish list does nothing but make her sound mercenary(sp).

We have had similar trouble in our family which has led to my parents changing their will!!!

Well I think I would have to send a list back of what I hoped to have received from my daughter :

Love

Respect

Honesty

Thoughtfulness etc etc
