The cost of Weddings.........

Hey everyone,

Just being curious and wondering what people have spent on their wedding? Or if you are not married yet what *would* you spend?

The national average spent on a wedding is currently sitting at between 15 and 18 thousand pounds.

Also would you consider (have you) borrowing money to finance said wedding or would you (have you) save it all up first?

er........ £120 - the cost of a suit for Baz (which he never wore again)

Mind you, it was my third wedding...

That didn't help, did it?

Married on a beach in Antigua for free as part of a holiday and even the holiday was not that expensive about £1500 for the two of us all inclusive for 2 weeks. They threw in the cake, the champagne, the wedding flowers and a candlelit evening meal on the beach etc etc. It was fab! they really made a simple ceremony special.

That sounds really nice. And pretty darn cheap for a wedding!

We went very small and inexpensive. Registry office and then a meal for about 40 people. Think we did it for about £1500!!!!! Had it exactly the way we wanted it.

WOW jackiew that is a LOT of sequins! That must have taken ages to do! Wish i could sew well enough to do something like that. Must have been really satisfying when it was all finished and you were wearing it down the aisle!

wufflehoond - glad you got exactly what you wanted it sounds like it was a very nice and intimate affair

I think it's ridiculous the lengths and expense some people go to, it's the marriage that should be concentrated on, not one day... and it is not supposed to be for the benefit of family you never otherwise see and hangers on! (speaking for myself )
And as for the "cost" - rip off, rip off, rip off.......
Just think what you COULD do with the money.. like have a decent holiday for the next ten years? That's if you are still together!

The first one was paid for by mum and dad, and I have no idea how much it cost. Not much, I suspect as it was a reg office wedding, and a shotgun one at that
The second one (there've been so many ) was also done on the cheap and paid for by me, but it was basically just the cost of the registrar and an outfit, so again, not expensive.
Am I coming across as tight?
