I see most breeds as masculine, simply because I have always owned dogs rather than bitches. If we are driving along I will point out a dog to Dave and say 'look at the sweet boy out for his walk', for me it is just habit to refer to dogs as boys. I would try and be more observant if I was talking to their owner though!

Yes!

Just sticking to 'my' breeds for this answer....

I'll be honest, whenever I think of Rotts I picture a nice, strapping male. One with a strong masculine head, beautiful, muscular body and that air about them that just screams power, dignity, strength and intelligence. For me they encapsulate everything that a Rottie stands for. It's not that I don't like the females, it's just the Rottie male for me is the ultimate.

I don't do it with Frenchies though, whenever I picture a Frenchie it's the joyous, bouncy, playful nature that I think of first and foremost.

What about you?

I think I think of small dogs, like a maltese as a womans dog, and a girl dog. Whereas Rotties or big strong looking breeds I think are masculine, but wouldnt nesseserily [sp?] think of it as a mans dog...hope that makes sense

Most people assume Pepper is a boy and Gozo and Enzo are girls, I suppose it's because she's bigger than them?

Everyone thinks Milo's a girl

OH is quite happy that i don't go down the 'girly route' i love SBT's, Rottweilers, Dobermans, GSD's, Mastiffs.

I can't ever see myself going out and buying a small fluffy dog because that's just not me.

I have nothing against any breed of dog i think they're all lovely just wouldn't have one myself
