All comes at once!

So I've been looking for a job for about a year now - I had one and I thought I had another. Both didn't work out, one didn't pay me and still owes me around £400 for the work I did, and one just seemed to want volunteers rather than people wanting to work and earn for their living..

So now the Job centre (JC) have moved me onto a recruiting agency - which I am visiting today.. but the past two days I have had two phone calls - one about work in a casino - which is perfect other than the distance away from me it is and the hours aren't long enough for me to be able to live off what I earn, especially if I am going to have to pay for transport back - which'd be a taxi as nothing runs at 12/1 am... and the other is a pet shop just down the road (Kennel Gate).

It all comes at once - and I sent these C.V's off in June.. All good things come to those who wait - my mum's voice comes to mind

I think I'd prefer the pet shop myself!

Have you got interviews for both then?

I do prefer the pet shop..

I have interviews for both, the Casino this Thursday and the pet shop next Wednesday.. what I'm hoping doesn't happen is that the Casino offer me the job before I've had the pet shop interview..

You could still take the casino job and go to the pet shop interview. If the pet shop offer you the job just tell the casino that you've changed your mind

It's not that - I'm still with the job centre - even though they aren't paying me anything because OH is in Army - so we're suddenly in the 50's where he has to support me (thats different rant though )
But I'm still going because they might as well pay my N.I stamp - they've even told me to keep going and getting it paid - so the problem bit would be faffing about with all the paper work and stuff from the JC..

Although I suppose I could always say - I've got this job, if I get the casino, then if I get the pet shop - well I've took this one as it is closer and more hours.. I suppose they can't argue with that...

I know exactly what you mean with the JC! I was in the same situation as you but my OH isnt in the Army but he earns over a certain amount so is expected to support me. However, when all his half of the bills were taken out and car loan payments, fuel and food there isnt any money left to support me as well. Luckily I had savings till I got a job to pay my half of everything. I totally gave up with the JC, they kept signing me off and then signing me back on for varies reasons that I already spoke to them about in person and they said it was fine, then sent me a letter saying I could no longer claim grrrrr.

If they sign you off for changing jobs then just put another claim in to pay your NI stamp.

No they'll stop paying the stamp and sign me off anyway when and if I get another job - depending on the hours, I think up to 12 hours and I still have to go, anything over and I can finally sign off! Was starting to get sick of the chavs in there anyway

They told me and OH as we were a joint claim that if one of us gets a job - we'd both have to sign off and the other sign back on - so who ever didn't have a job would still be getting benefits - nope they lied.. Some of it is good what they do but I just think there is so much going on half of them don't know whats right anymore..

Fingers crossed I get one of these jobs though..

I was told it was upto 16 hrs a week. I found my JC totally useless, they had me down to sign on in Torquay one week. I've never been to Torquay in my life!!
Fingers crossed for you
