update on venue for SKC shows

re: the proposed selling of Ingliston grounds for the expansion of Edinburgh airport.

There will be no moves until at least the year 2010 or 2011, the owners of the showground have other land on the other side of the M8, so that should give them plenty of time to get organised.

just in case you missed this on the showing thread

This was taken from the SKC website.

Due to some severe ground damage, which occurred during the Royal Highland Agricultural show in June as a result of inclement weather conditions, the area which normally accommodates the majority of our covered outdoor rings is now not available for use. As a result these rings (Nos. 1-20) will now be in the Highland Hall.
It should be noted that this will be the only alteration to the usual August show layout and BiS ring, trade stands, benching etc. will remain unchanged.
Whilst it is understood that the distance between benching areas and rings is not ideal it has been done to cause minimum disruption to the exhibitor and to provide the best possible facilities in which to exhibit dogs.
It has also been decided that due to the significant entries in some breeds it would be advisable to have an earlier start for judging of these breeds and we have therefore highlighted the breeds with a 9.00am start.
DAY 1:- Border Collie, Dobermann, Siberian Husky, CKCS.
DAY 2:- Labrador Retriever, Gordon Setter, Border Terrier.

Thanks for that Susan, yes I did see it, but someone else asked about the pending closure of the showground.

The benching is out in the cattle sheds as usual and the rings are in the highland hall, a bit of a trek, I pitty anyone with dogs in consecutive classes.

I would think that it's unlikely the agility will be indoors as it is usually in the main ring and I think the damaged ground is lower down and to the right of the main entrance. I'll try to find out though and get back

As a levenhall flyer the team which runs the agility comp at SKC there have so far been no changes for the agility and it will take place in the normal area (main arena)
