Jake - 4 year old Dalmatian x JRT (Cornwall)
Jake is a 4 year old Dalmatian x Jack Russell Terrier and is currently on foster in Cornwall.
The Jake Fact File
Dog status: Could live with another dog but needs socialisation with dogs outside the home.
Cat status: Cannot be rehomed with cats, small animals or chickens
Child status: Good. Can be rehomed with children over 10.
House training: Jake is house trained.
Home alone: Jake can be left for short periods and may be suitable for part time workers.
Basic training: Walks nicely on a head collar and has basic training. Will need work with recall and socialisation around other dogs.
Jake is a loving and happy dog with a very waggy tail. He lives at present with other dogs and is fine so with the correct introductions could live with canine company. He could be rehomed as an only dog if he has human company. However he has been under socialised with other dogs outside the house and can be nervous when meeting new dogs. Sometimes he plays nicely while other times Jake gets nervous and may grab onto the other dog inappropriately.
Jake cannot live with cats, small furries or poultry and would probably be better without adjacent livestock.
Jake is an active dog that will need an active home where he gets a good level of exercise. He has a good level of basic training knowing how to sit etc. He walks well on a lead with a headcollar and loves to run free in a safe and secure area. However his recall goes from one extreme to the other; either perfect or non-existent so he would need work in this area.
Jake is good with people and has been around children of all ages. He is happy to be fussed all over. However he can be rather bouncy and can be possessive over food or treats so we would prefer Jake to be homed with children over 10.
Jake is house trained, travels well in the car and thinks vet visits are just an excuse for a cuddle. He settles well in the house but the Dally part takes over if there is food around! Judging on his ability to leap onto kitchen counters he would probably be great at agility! His obsession with food also means he can guard food and treats but on the plus side this means food can be a great motivator for learning. Jake doesn’t really understand what is his and what isn’t so will pick up anything he finds and chew it. He has never chewed furniture or done any real damage but anything left lying around is fair game to Jake!.
Jake is looking for a fun and active new home who can give him the level of exercise he needs and is patient and has the experience needed to work on Jake’s recall and socialisation with other dogs
All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. Hope Rescue rehomes throughout the UK.
