Hector is being sick and has the runs.

Last night all over my bed! Hector vomited. It was like human sick and quite a lot of it. I left him in kitchen over night and when i came down this morning there was sick and poo all over.
We went for a walk, he had some scrambled egg, seemed fine, happy, running around.
But house mate has just been in and said he has had more diarrhoea.
Should i be worried and get him to the vet, or see what he is like later.
I can only presume has had eaten something whilst we have been out walking.
Also, how can i get him to drink? Is there anything i can put in his water?

the usual is to starve them for 24 hours then fed them little and often with boiled chicken and rice, introducing the normal food back slowly.

a few drops of apple cider vinegar in the water will help settle the stomach too.

Bless him!

hope he's better soon.

Hi Catsta I would get Hector to the Vets if you can ASAP (and always if the tummy has been upset for 24 hours) .Puppies have immature immune systems and pick infections up very easily as well as eating potentially poisenious substances ,they can also become dehydrated and really ill very quickly.

Don't let him drink lots of water at a time or it will come back up, just put small amounts of boiled cooled water in his dish and top it up frequently. I wouldn't put anything in the water at this stage, later on a little honey , just the tiniest amount.

there does seem to be a lot of sickness around in dogs at the minute, my mums 2 have just got over their bugs. Luckily so far Zak has not had anything but lots of people we talk to know someone or they themselves has a dog who has been poorly.... I hope your little one gets better soon, let us know how it goes at the vets

Big hugs

Mel xx
