I think it may have been based on a model of horse collars...

I have some pictures in Emma Bruno's book on Newfoundlands which show them pulling sleds with collars like this, not just sleds but huge trees as well

Not much point in my buying it 'tho 'cos our two would look at it and tell me exactly where to go

Wow fantastic as a collectors item, but thank god things have moved on, can you imagine the strain on a sled dogs neck having to pull wearing that lol, instead of the harnesses they now wear, having not seen this before I am presuming the dog would have also worn an harness and the collar and lead just sort of assisted in the directing of the dog rather than a tool for puling with?

Im not really sure.. I had another look and cant figure out how it would work..
but it would be a great collecters item for anyone really intrested in sled dogs
I thought as it had two clips on each end of the leads, poss it was attatched to whatever the dog was pulling and the dog was more led from the front..
