Kennels in Merseyside?

Can anyone recommend a really good kennel in merseyside?

We go away in december for a month, so Samson may need to go into kennels (last resort) for 4 weeks, unless family look after him.

I've heard stories about dogs not being the same after kennels, but this may be old news?
