will she stop?

My Goldie is so silly. On walks if she see anyone not people we know she tries to roll over so they will fuss her or if on the other side of the road tries to get to them, and if we see anyone she know she goes mad trying to get to them which is nice but i want her to only go to people i tell her to whether she knows them or not.
Is it an age thing or i need to do some sort of training for it to stop?

It is pattially an age thing but your friends can help. If she goes to them without being told, they turn side on & ignore her. If you send her to them she gets a big fuss & reward. I'm sure she'll soon learn she only gets the pleasure if you've told her to go to them

The rolling over is puppy thing, its also a sign of her being submissive, in other words she's telling them she's not a threat, by rolling over. She'll probably grow out of it soon especially if you are taking her to training classes.

Many retrievers will also enjoy having something in their mouths or to carry - does she have a suitable toy for this?

She has a little oink ball that is the only toy she bothers with, she loves it, she lays on the sofa rolling on it making a funny nosie like she is hugging it.

hi Dori Kate.
Retrievers do like to carry something in their mouths especially when they are being fussed over. Has she got a soft toy? If she doesn't it would be worth getting one and exchanging your arm for the toy whenever she does it. You'll soon find she brings you the toy when she wants a tickle.
As for trying to get to people, whilst it is an age thing, especially in a well socialised dog (well done you) you will need to put some effort into training as will the people she tries to get to. They mustn't even look at her as she will take that as a reward. The thing I find can work is distraction with a food reward (a high value one like cheese, but it would be whatever she likes) only use it in those situations and you should get her attention back.
I make sure that our dogs sit before being tickled by anyone, even us. It's stops them jumping up or rolling. If you start this elsewhere and keep her attention on you when someone else tickles her, with that high value food reward, she'll soon stop the rolling and just sit in the mud instead!!!!!
Hope this helps, she sounds like a lovely friendly girl!
