Xp or Vista

I need to replace my computer, don't know anything about Vista only that someone did say to avoid the 'basic home' edition. Anyway is Vista the way to go? All advice very much welcome

IMO I will stick with XP until all the normal Microsoft 'bugs' have been ironed out of Vista. I've heard a lot of people have had problems with it while only a few have had no problems. I prefer to wait until I hear a lot more about it before I move across.

I agree with WH - it's just too new at the moment. XP has been pretty much debugged. I wouldn't touch Vista for a couple of years (if at all), as I've heard some of some nightmarish problems it's causing!

Definitely, it takes a long time to debug operating systems as we've seen time and time again. I'm with sticking with what we know.

I am buying a new laptop in the next few days, and sadly they only come with Vista now from what I can see, yes I would much prefare to stick to XP untill microsoft sorts its product out, but they are too keen to get it on the market asap than give us a outright reliable product.

I hope I dont have problems with my new laptop!

Well XP has been out how long??

They are still fixing bugs.

It follows that Vista will have many problems to.

Me, Kev, our best friend, and my Mums new comp all have Vista.
The only problem I've encountered, is there is no up to date software to connect my phone to my PC anymore (Motorola Razor), as Motorola haven't released anything new.
Not a major problem though!

No one else I know with it have had any probs.
Just make sure your comp has more than the minimum specs, or it will run slow.

STAY AWAY FROM VISTA!!!!!!!!

I installed Vista on my PC a few weeks ago, and at first I thought it was great. Oh, how wrong could I be. After it fcuked my PC up, I had to re-install XP.

If you want my advice, stick to XP
