TV License

I got a 'red reminder' this morning, saying that my TV license renewal is overdue.

Very strange, because I have the receipt saying "Paid In Full", with the date 15th February on it.

I just phoned them up, and explained, and the guy said well theres 2 names, one on the 'renewal notice', and one on the 'paid'.
Yes, because when I renewed the license (online), I put my new married name in it - but still used my TV license number.
Somehow, it created another license.

BUT, what I argued, is that on the reminder, it says:
"According to our records, there is no valid TV license at the above address".
And I DO have a license for the above address.

He said "well, thats not what it means"
But duhhh...thats what it says!

Why can't they use their common sense, and see that I bought a license for the bloody address!! ARGHHH!

Its stupid....the license is for the address (thats what it states on their letter), but it seems that if it's not in the right name - you get penalised!!
They should really re-word their letters, to state that the license isn't really for the address, but for a person at that address, because thats what the guy on the phone said to me!

well,he told you aload of crap to get out of there mistake.
aslong as 1 person has a liscense at an address your covered,if that person moves the license then has to be transfered to the new address.
its sort of for the address and that person, but they only had to look it up to see sum1 had paid for that address already.
i cant believe we have to pay a stupid license anyway

I have a TV licence for this address, but they have put a name on it that is nothing like mine, but I can't be bothered changing it. So, everytime I buy anything TV related or another TV, I get a note saying they have no record of a TV licence at my address.
Just let them waste their efforts on coming round and then show them the licence if they want to carry on being thick.
I have never had a visit yet, despite all the threatening letters.
